Did Members Of Congress Aid The Cover-up Of Benghazi?

That’s a good question.

If I’m not mistaken, We (Casey and I) were talking about this on the air in the immediate days after the attacks in Benghazi. I seem to recall mentioning the rumor at the time was that Ambassador Stevens was in Benghazi trying to recover weapons that had been lost to Al Quaeda in the aftermath of Gaddafi being killed. The significance being that it had been organized by and ran by HILARY CLINTON.

In what can only be described as an act of “Accidental Journalism”, CNN and the UK’s Telegraph are now reporting that the CIA has been engaging in witness intimidation and witness relocation of it’s operators that were on the ground in Benghazi during that fateful night in September. Sounds plausible to me, knowing how buggered they’d be if it was actually proven.

Here’s where things get interesting.

Yesterday, Breibart‘s Kerry Picket wrote a piece called, “BENGHAZI: UNAUTHORIZED WEAPONS OPERATION OR CONGRESSIONAL COVER-UP?”. In it, Picket reminds us that if indeed there was an unauthorized weapons op, there would have been a select few in Congress that would have been made privy to the operation…The Gang of Eight.

According to section 503’s Presidential Approval and Reporting of Covert Actions in the 1947 National Security Act, the President may not authorize covert CIA actions without informing the intelligence committees of Congress.
Legislation implemented in 1980 gave the president the authority to limit advance notification of especially sensitive covert actions to eight Members of Congress–the “Gang of Eight”: the chairmen and ranking minority Members of the two congressional intelligence committees, the Speaker and minority leader of the House, and Senate majority and minority leaders. These members are: House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD), Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Sen. Saxby Chambliss

Picket goes on to point out that Boehner has repeatedly blocked efforts to form a House Select Committee and as for the rest? Weelll, they seem to have either gotten a pretty severe case of amnesia or they fall back on “It’s Classified.”

Don’t you worry though, I’m sure the President will soon appoint a committee of Congressmen to investigate Congress and will report their findings to Congress. Whereupon, President Obama will then implement the necessary changes to ensure that this never happens again.

There…See? Nothing to see here….Move along
