Eric Holder To Step Down As Attorney General

Eric Holder

According to NPR, Attorney General Eric Holder is setting the stage for his resignation.

This has been a long time coming and I’m sure that Republicans, everywhere, are rejoicing at the very prospect.

According to the article, Holder has said on numerous occasions that he didn’t want to be “locked in” to the entire second term of President Obama. He is already six years into his position, so, it leaves one to wonder: “Why now?” No matter what his reasons are, for many conservatives, his (Holder’s) resignation is cause for celebration.

Holder has stated that he will not step down until his successor has been confirmed. One doesn’t have to be a political expert to see that THAT process is not going to be quick OR easy. Should the GOP gain the necessary seats to take control of the Senate and maintain control of the House of Representatives, finding a replacement that both parties can agree upon is going to be a daunting task, to say the least.
