Fruitful June

” Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?”  Matthew 7:16 KJV

On Wednesdays in the month of June, it’s going to be difficult to make many political posts.  Our local church holds Vacation Bible School every Wednesday in June, and our family takes part serving the kids; thus, I have a certain amount of time committed to VBS.  It’s a fun time, too.

I’ll still make time to post SOMETHING, though.  Today I went outside to take Wednesday for a walk, and survey the horticultural delights that will soon be coming to our little six acres.  I’m talking, of course, of fruits and vegetables.  We’ve had a lot of rain, and some plants are doing well.  Check out the eggplant below.

The biggest plant in this tub is eggplant. The little stuff is sprouting mustard seed.

Can you spot the dark, inverted bloom? There's gonna be an eggplant, there.

The Thai Chili peppers are growing like crazy.  Lots of heat in these tiny pods make your mouth burn and your toes sweat.

The Blueberry bushes are covered in fruit.  They should be ready to pick in early July, maybe a little earlier.

blueberries!

Apples!

This isn’t a vegetable, but I got a pic of the Red Cannas.  The tallest one is almost six feet tall.

This is not a vegetable, either.  It’s a seed-pod growing on a Sweet Shrub plant.  I’ve never seen one before, so I’m documenting it’s growth in photos.

Wednesday the Cat always walks with me on these jaunts around our six acres.  On the lowest part of the property, she found an animal burrow.  It probably belongs to a chipmunk.

I couldn’t resist snapping a photo of this section of our family’s land, in the sunlight.  It’s cool under the shady parts.

Wednesday’s favorite part of the walk is when we sit together on this little wooden bench.  As I was snapping the pic, Wednesday moved, making her head blur a little.  Cats.
