Put on Your Armor and Pray

Put on your Armor and Pray!

Essay by Jelena Anderson

Today I’m writing with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes. For weeks we have been seeing pictures of refugees flooding Europe; flooding Germany, my home country. We see images of women with children who left their homes behind in search of safety and a new future.  Who can blame them, right? We all want our children to grow up happy and safe. We don’t want to worry about their safety day in and day out. As a mother, I can understand and sympathize with these refugees.

What I can’t understand is somebody in need turning away the help that is offered. What I can’t understand is somebody who escaped terror in their home just so that they can now unleash terror on countries, that have taken them in.

I was relieved when I read on Sunday, September 13th, that Germany has reintroduced a temporary border control. Enough is enough already, because we are not just talking about women and children, or families who escaped the terrors of war. No we are talking about so called ‘migrants’ that bring the terror to Europe.

Today I read a German document about one of the refugee camps in Hessen, a state in Germany. This document points out the need for safe facilities for women and children within the refugee camps because rape, sexual assault and forced prostitution of women and children within those camps are not exceptions any more.

Just yesterday I saw an article about a billboard that was put up in a neighborhood in the San Diego area, that is promoting Muhammad and Islam. The billboard says “Peace”, “Social Justice” and “Women’s Rights” on it.

Where are the women’s rights when they’re getting raped? Where are the rights of the children that are being sexually abused?  Where is this so called “Religion of Peace” Muslims keep talking about? Isn’t that “peace” the reason why all the refugees are flooding Europe right now, because it is too dangerous for them in their own homes?

After they leave the refugee camps, those savages will be unleashed on the society of those countries kind enough to take them in.

My family in Germany has been wondering how many terrorists ISIS has smuggled into the country with all these refugees coming in, and pictures of ‘migrants’ fighting the police while waving the black flag of ISIS certainly justifies those concerns.

Now America is facing the same problems, since the Obama Administration is pushing for vast numbers of refugees to be allowed into the country – as long as they are not Christians of course, because Christian refugees seem to not be welcome in the US.

Of course the numbers of refugees and migrants that Europe took in are much larger and in comparison have a much greater impact on those countries, than the number the Obama Administration wants to take in; but the threat is still the same – we are setting ourselves up to be taken down from the inside; whatever part our current leadership hasn’t taken down yet- but let’s not go there right now.

When you look at the new “kill lists” released by ISIS, showing photos, names and addresses of US soldiers, along with the promises of attacks on soldiers in America this month, it is really hard not to give into fear and to give up hope.

As a Christian I have to ask myself, what can I do to help? What can I do to stop this? How can we fight this when our leaders seem to take us down a path that can only end in our destruction; in the destruction of our culture, our Faith, our homes. The destruction of Europe as we know it has already begun.. Will America be next?

So what do we do? I’m not a soldier. I don’t go to war. I’m just a mother, working to provide for my family, just like so many of you out there. What can we do?

And the answer is:   we can pray!

I may not be a soldier, but I am a warrior. I may not carry a gun, but I have a sword. I may not have a bullet proof vest but I have a shield.

I know; it seems like we don’t stand a chance, but the Bible tells us that in the end every knee will have to bow to the name of Jesus.

“For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:10 (NIV)

Each and every one of us is called to fight and the Bible gives us the instructions in Ephesians 6:10-18 NIV:

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

It doesn’t seem like much, but the Bible is full of miracles, answered prayers and times in which God delivered His people out of hopeless situations. Huge armies were defeated by only a few hundred soldiers; walls came down without a single weapon being drawn.

So today and every day, put on your armor, get on your knees and pray. Not just for America, but for Europe and for Christians around the world. Pray like you never prayed before! Lord knows we need it!
