Rand Paul Enters 2016 Race

Rand Paul

Rand Paul

As you can see from this Washington Times post, Rand Paul today announced that he will be running for President of the United States in the 2016 cycle.  For the more Libertarian wing of the GOP, this is great news.  From the WT article:

Speaking at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Mr. Paul said the nation’s best days are ahead. He blamed both parties for the mounting national debt, railed against “special interest” in Washington and vowed to end “unconstitutional” federal surveillance programs.

It’s too early for me to pick a candidate to back.  I like Ted Cruz’ Conservative message, but, to be honest, I also really like that Rand Paul has gone to places that the GOP traditionally doesn’t visit, like historically black colleges, for instance.  The GOP looks to be fielding a strong bunch of candidates for 2016, at least in the Presidential race, while the Democrats….well, one of my friends recently referred to their strongest runner as “Captain Pantsuit”.  I’ll leave y’all to guess the real name of that one, while another Democrat whose name repeatedly comes up is usually referred to in Conservative circles as Fauxcahontas.

I have taken a vow to vote for a Third Party candidate if Jeb Bush gets the Republican nomination in 2016.  Anybody else with me on that?
