Essay By Jelena Anderson

It is no secret that our county is a huge mess right now. And not just our country but the whole world seems to have gone crazy here lately. Watching the destruction of Christian values in my home country of Germany, as well as in my chosen country, America, is absolutely heartbreaking and we all know that there is no “quick fix” for this problem.

Germany is no longer considered to be a Christian nation, and we all know that President Obama has made it abundantly clear that America is also no longer a Christian country, despite the Judeo-Christian values the Founding Fathers based this great nation on.

As Christians we are being muzzled and are not supposed to speak our mind any longer or stand on the Christian values and principals we were taught.

Looking at some of these young liberals that are being raised up in college these days, it makes me wonder what state this country and the world will be in, once these future leaders will come of age.

I agree that we shouldn’t force our own beliefs on our children, but the liberal indoctrination that seems to be going on at some of these colleges is absolutely ridiculous!

So while we are still trying to figure out how to fix our country, let’s not forget that the generation that is coming in behind us, is so liberal in parts that whatever progress we can make now, will be undone again once they are in charge.

This however is something that we can fix!

Parents, I’m calling on you! I’m calling on teachers, aunts, uncles, counselors, grandparents – anybody who is able to show these kids what is right and wrong and who can teach them what the Bible has taught us!
Maybe we can’t change what our children will have to listen to at college, but we can lay a solid foundation at home.

Proverbs 22:6 tells us “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (NKJV).

Let me give you an example:
I started this year with a Daniel Fast. My husband, who is a brand new Christian, decided to join me in Fasting, but since this was his first Fast, he only fasted meat this time. Our 8-year-old asked about the Fast and after explaining it to him, he, too, wanted to fast. Since a Daniel Fast is not that easy, we told him to pick only one thing he wanted to fast. He chose candy.
One morning his teacher texted me to tell me that they had a birthday party in class and there was a cookie cake. Our son had asked his teacher if he was allowed to eat that cake since he was on the fast. She had no idea that we fasted and was so impressed with him, because even though he really wanted some cake, he chose not to!
Both of our children are so used to seeing me read my Bible in the mornings while drinking my coffee, that our 3-year-old had asked Santa Clause if he could bring her a bible for Christmas. The look on the face of that mall Santa Clause was priceless!
And of course we got her a bible for Christmas. She has been pretend reading her bible almost daily and we read out of her story book bible every night.
Her teacher at her Christian day care told me that she worships God with her eyes closed, her hands raised and a big smile on her face, every time they play worship music.
We don’t preach to our children. We simply live our lives as Christians not just out in public but also at home in front of our children. They have seen me on my hands and knees crying out to God for help, praising God for His provision and favor over our lives, lay hands on the sick and pray for them,…
This is so normal for our children that when they don’t feel good, they ask us to pray for them, and when my husband and I don’t feel good, they come on their own to pray for us!
The world my sink into chaos and there might not be a whole lot we can do about it, but your home is where you have dominion. Teach your children Christian values and principles. Read the bible with them. Let them see your Faith in action! And pray for your children always!
If we don’t start at home and raise up the next generation the right way, we don’t stand a chance to turn this country around for good!

“Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.” (Psalm 112:1-2 NIV).

I don’t know about you, but I’d like to see the next generation to be mighty in the land and to be blessed so that our Christian values and principles will be seen all across this great nation again!
